The journey so far.
This is what has happened since Qi-ren left his home, beginning his adventure. Dark themes included so read at your own risk! The out of home canon for him is made with compilations of roleplay I have done throughout my time in ff14.The moogles have given him his start. The young adult Raen man began his journey to explore the realms he only knew from written maps. His introduction into the real world came in the form as a postman job, getting letters to everyone everywhere.For a long time he didn't speak with anyone, the most communication was a little knock and a “mail here!”
This kept up until he began getting more inner city deliveries. These were harder to navigate for him than forest areas. He made his way through Ishgard, Limsa Lominsa, and of course Ul’dah.During his time in Limsa Lominsa he took the chance to admire the water but more than that the docks. He loved the dancing done by the locals and he already did a lot of dancing in his free time so he became a dancer primarily, doing so more by watching everyone he could.When he reached inner city Ul’dah his deliveries slowed and it was time for the true test, socialization. After practically refusing to socialize in Limsa he was told to get out there and talk, as much as there were certain aspects of his history he had to hide. He used multiple shops, city centres, and bars to do so. Originally he was only watching people in town but he finally talked to someone.He made small talk with a few people who only occasionally caught on to the sylphic manner of speech but any time they got too close he would pull away from them. He may have flirted a bit but he didn't have a ‘proper relationship’ until him.A small male who took Qi’s desire to be small and turned it into full submission. He took advantage of how blind to the world the Au’ra was. He taught him to listen to every beck and call, to mindlessly follow any order he gave. Qi-ren became obsessed with him, he didn’t desire learning about anyone else. He brought him back to Ishgard far out of his comfort zone. He was kept in the noble’s quarters, making food for him, bathing him, taking care of any strange urges the small one had. He was a willing slave and he loved it for as long as the other wasn’t bored of him.Eventually the noble didn't care for him anymore. He was just a used up tool. He suddenly wouldn't let Qi-ren touch him, and quickly that turned into not even allowing him to lay eyes on him, thrown out in the cold. He was in a place unknown somewhere in residential Ishgard forced to survive.He didn't know what happened and yet still believes it to be his fault, wondering what he did wrong. He was eventually guided by a moogle who helped him back to the forest to heal and regain his strength. He was told how incredible he was doing and how they were proud to have him home or out in the world. He was welcome to stay but no one knew what happened. He didn't fully know what happened either but despite how cold and horrible it actually was, he had never felt so warm. He had to get it again.Despite living in Ishgard he originally met the young noble in the sands so he went back and began talking to people again, not knowing how but desiring more than anything else to make friends and be warm with people again. He didn't quite know that what he had before wasn’t a friendship and he doesn’t know how to respect boundaries well but he wanted to be close to anyone who would treat him any kind of way.Now that he has went back to the sands he has talked to quite a few people and learned more about Au’Ra history but he has yet to find someone who can fill the void.

You've caught his stare - Qi-ren is most certainly a people watcher, especially the beautiful bunny people (viera) and miqo'te alike. If you are a man or even a woman who looks sort of like a man there's a good chance he has stared at you for a bit and its reasonable you may have caught it.The mailman - Qi-ren is an official honourary postmoogle, having trained with the best in the field he can often be seen out delivering packages or relaxing in his uniform. You will almost always know if a paper is delivered by him because it will have a heavy fragrant smell.Got a fine sniffer? - anyone who has a keen sense of smell can definitely feel the waft from his bag tingling in their nostrils. Qi-ren will carry around a large amount of plants, most found in the shroud or the churning mists. He will definitely always have ingredients for teas, some herbs for food, and some milkroot.A little trip - Qi-ren is often sitting on the ground, if you are a tall race its reasonable you could literally trip over him while walking casually.

_Uncommon:Is that not just a sylph in disguise? - If you have any experiences with the sylph and hear this man speak it is abundantly clear that he sounds quite similar. His whole sentance structure and grammar when speaking Eorzean is based on their way of speaking. You may also know that sometimes sylphs do shapeshift so its truly curious if this man may not be what he seems.Hang out with the moogles? - Qi-ren is horribly socialized amongst other "walking ones" but if you frequent Moghome or hang out with the Moogles a lot you may be able to recognize him. He would likely have never spoken with you but he was always lounging when he was there, relaxed like no one else. He definitely stood out.Member of the Twin Adder? - If you have been a member of the twin adder for quite some time it is possible you have noted the Raen child who sat in the woods and stared, very rarely seen but he stared so often it was impossible not to be caught a few times.

He was a dedicated slave for a long time and now he's just out in the public?A familiar Raen? - If you are an older than ~45 and lived with other Raen for most of your twenties then there is a rare chance this man looks heavily familiar to you, though more like a missing person from your past. If you want to work with this your character needs to have history being part of a Raen tribe that frequented the shroud.One of these ones! (straight up spoilers for any non sylph) - If you are a sylph then you know that this man was raised in the shroud with the sylphs. Very few know why except for the first few but you knew you werent supposed to talk about him in the open or his history, and couldn't tell anyone you had him. He is a piece of your family even if not publicly acknowledged, despite being technically a Raen. (lmk if you do want to rp one of the original sylphs who knew the whole thing and I will spill the whole history)

Hihi! My name is Metrius and I am le 21 years old. I absolutely love final fantasy but man's poor so I only occasionally have a sub (and use it pretty much just for rp)I have been roleplaying for easily the last ten years beginning on kik and youtube forums, miiverse, then amino, then space station 13 (don't reccomend.) value pushing the story along over quantity any day. I love making characters and in depth backgrounds that I build over time through random prompts in rp. I don't know an amazing amount about the lore so I play a character who also doesn't know very much due to a conveniently sheltered backstory.
